Me Time

Last year Stephen and I sat down together and made a list of New Years Resolution. We made physical, spiritual, mental, and family goals. We made one or two goals per category and did rather well on accomplishing them. This year I wasn't feeling it. I am always for bettering myself, but didn't feel the need to sit down and make goals.

However, as time has passed there is one thing I see that needs a big improvement. Allowing myself to have me time. I am so focused on being a good mom to Alex, a good wife to Stephen, and managing things around the house that I am missing me time. I do things for everyone else, but rarely for myself. That is not healthy. I need to take care of myself, develop my talents, and maintain my skills.

This will be my motto for 2013, don't forget the me. Step one is to take better care of myself physically. Before Alex I worked out frequently and enjoyed it. Recently I have started running twice a week with a friend early before our kids or husbands are awake. I am enjoying moving my body, spending time with a friend, and the quiet time I get before Stephen and Alex wake up.

In order to maintain my teacher's license I have to earn 100 credits in five years. I have yet to take any classes to get any credit. It is important to me that even if I never use my license again, it is active, and I could if I wanted to.

Lastly I want to make more times with friends. I need to give myself permission to leave the house when Stephen is home. Our family won't suffer if I go out once or twice a month.

I am excited for this new challenge and hope I don't lose steam.

Just found your blog from fb. I'm so glad you moved here and that you are willing to wake up early to run. You came into my life at just the right time because I might have wimped out from single digits but now that I've experienced them, I can tolerate the cold. Good job on making goals!
