Pregnancy Vent

I remember when I was pregnant with Alex, everything was so new and exciting. I loved when people asked me when I was due. I would gush about how great it is being pregnant and feeling my baby move.

This time though I am fed up with strangers asking me about my pregnancy. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get the look while they were talking to me. When women ask me when I'm due, and I respond with June, I get the oh you poor girl look. You are so big and you still have three months left. Sometimes I think their eyes will pop out of their heads. Thanks for reminding me how much bigger I am this time around. I am well aware that I look the same as when I was full term with Alex even though I am 6 months pregnant. At the store today I had a man yell at me, "hang in there". Excuse me, should I tell you to hang in there because you have to walk from the parking lot to the store. I mean, that can be quite a hike. A cashier at Costco tried to sell me an upgraded membership because I am expecting another one, and I need to be money smart. Excuse me, are you telling you're overweight customers that they need to upgrade their membership because they're eating a lot, so they should be money smart?

Do people forget that I am still a person, and not just pregnant? Why is it appropriate to make comments and suggestions to someone that is pregnant that you would never make to someone else?

I know people have good intentions, but please, keep you're good intentions to yourself.  I am aware that I will have another child to feed. I know I look like I will pop any second. But please, keep your opinions and your looks to yourself.

My advice- Use it to your advantage. Get free stuff, etc. I totally did that.

LOL sorry to laugh but I remember too freshly!I agree teh filter is gone when you're expecting. Nevermind that we're overly sensitive to begin with. Hang in there-stupidity will abound for another 6 months!

That is stupid, especially since you aren't "that" big! Just wear the black jacket, and no one will know you are prego - like me! LOL I can't believe I did that! Seriously, you are beautiful and in great shape. Ignore those weirdos. :(

My worst nightmare was a lady in our ward who would constantly hug my stomach with both hands, bend her head, and talk to my unborn baby! Her son goes to the same school as Max, so she would even do it in the school hallway as I was trying to run past her. I can't even express how happy I am that this is over now! I am sorry you have to handle everyone's comments about your pregnancy. Somehow people forget that this is still your body and many comments should not even be in their heads, let alone expressed outloud!

[I am catching up on your blog :) so this is obviously way later than your post... but your post brought some really recent memories and I couldn't help myself but share this!]
