First Birthday

On Saturday we had Alex's first birthday party. It was Yo Gabba Gabba themed. Alex doesn't watch much TV at all, but when he does it's Yo Gabba Gabba. He dances to the music, and just stares at the screen.

To decorate I put up pictures of Alex from month one to eleven
I made a Yo Gabba Gabba banner, which is now in Alex's room.
I made two types of cupcakes, one of Muno and one of Grobie. We had the party at my sister's and she saved me with the cupcakes. I had baked them the night before, and when we got there the yellow cake cupcakes were crumbling and falling apart. Since they didn't taste that good anyway my sister whipped up a batch chocolate cupcakes. I was able to have them decorated just in time for the party to start.

Our Yo Gabba Gabba shirts =)
We decided to let Alex dig into the cake first because he was acting so tired. At first he looked at it weird. He kinda touched it and eventually gave it a try. It was love once he got the frosting in. He ended up eating half the cake!

Alex perked up from all the sugar so we played some games next. We played pin the eye on Muno, and there's a party in Grobie's tummy (we threw play food in a box that looked like Grobie). We also danced to music, and colored. Alex watched it all. It was perfect, the kids got to play games, and the adults got to talk.

We opened presents last. He loved all his presents so much that he wanted to play with each of them before opening the next present. Alex sure is a lucky boy who got awesome toys.

We had a nice turnout with my sister Karen and her family, Stephen's brother and his family, our mission friends the Hudsons, our neighbors the Coles, and the kids I nanny once a week.

It all went so well and I couldn't have asked for a better party for Alex. As a thank you Alex said Mama for the first time Saturday night. That made it all worth it.
