So, we took it to the mechanic, and he said the timing belt, the power steering belt, and the water pump all need to be replaced. To do that would cost $700. Errr! When we heard that we were in a dilemna. We knew that the van wouldn't last forever. It has a lot of miles on it, and we knew it was only a matter of time till it died. We had already decided that if the cost to fix up the van would be more than what the van is worth, we would get a new car. We looked up on blue book what the car is worth, and it is worth a $1000, and the trade in value was $700. Right then and there I decided that we got to the point where it wasn't worth it to fix up the van. Our next problem though, is we need two cars, to get to school and work. What we decided is to drive the van till we find another car to buy. (I told Stephen that he has to drive it, I am not gonna get stranded again).
We have been looking around, and we think we found something! A 2004 Honda Accord for $2,900. What a deal! We have to get a loan from the bank, but then we should have a new car! The only crazy thing is the person who is selling it to us lives in Spain, he is in the military. He is going to ship it to us, we are gonna look at it, and if we like it, then we will pay. Quite the deal I think.

Oh no! I think you're smart to 'let the van go', though. GOod luck - I hate buying cars!
Wow, that is a great price for the new car. We went through something similar. Or car died on us a few years back, but at that time it was our ONLY car. Not fun.
