Grateful
This week started out kinda hard for me. First thing Monday morning I had a mom come in and scream at me because I disciplined her son. She said I picked on him and that what I do as a teacher is wrong. On one hand I knew she was wrong, I know for a fact that I do none of the things that she accused me of, and that I am the best teacher I can be for her son, but it is always not that easy to let go. Then, I have another student who suddenly stopped doing his work, and started acting up in class. I was so sad, and upset. I analyzed everything I did for a week, thinking what I was doing was wrong. It weighed on me. I let these things get to me. But, I am so grateful for the gospel, and good friends. I have one coworker who has become a close friend of mine. He has been teaching forever, and has been through everything. He has such a positive attitude about everything, and such perspective. He had been gone all week so I wasn't able to talk to him, but yesterday he returned. I told him what was going on, and he reminded me that these are God's children we are working with and that I need to pray for them, everyday. He reminded me of the power that I have as a woman. That I can bring such peace into a classroom. That my voice can bring love and calm, and discipline into my room. From then on things turned a 180, back to the way they were. I am so grateful to be a woman, and for all the gifts that come with it. I hope I don't forget what power I have.
