On June 14 I ran my second half marathon. It was in big cottonwood canyon. I trained with my friend Diana, so we rode together to the start line. The race started at 6, but they had to bus us to the start line which was on the top of the top canyon and the last bus left at 5, which meant I had to be up at 345. Way too early. We got to the top of the canyon around 515 so had to wait in the cold 45 mns before the race began. Not my favorite memories of the whole thing for sure. Eventually though six rolled around and the race began! Diana agreed that we should take our own pace and not feel pressured to stay with the other person so we ran the first three miles together and then separated.
The course was so beautiful and fun! You can't beat running downhill! Although I didn't train for downhill so around mile six my legs started getting sore and my shoes were a tiny bit small so my toes were killing me.
I finished with a time of 2 hours and 2 minutes which is 14 minutes faster than my first half. I was quite proud.
I loved this course so much I've decided to do a full marathon in the same canyon the second weekend in September! Eeek!
