On Wednesday and Thursday I had Parent Teacher Conferences. I really like having conferences, it gives me a chance to talk to the parents, and tell them how well their child is doing, and what they can improve on. I have really good parents this year, which is probably why I enjoy it. But, I get SO tired! I usually get to work around 8:15, and conferences end at 7:30, so that is almost a 12 hour day. Try doing that two days in a row. It's rough! Another frustrating thing about conferences is that the kids I really need to come with their parents, don't. They schedule times to come, but don't show up. It is so frustrating! Especially when I ask the kid why they didn't come and they always say something like, they were just too tired, or they forgot.
That is frustrating for me, but in the end I just feel bad for the kids. Some of my kids tell me what goes on at home, and it breaks my heart. I had one of my kids crying in school yesterday because things at home were so frustrating, and he it was getting to be too much. I have another kid tell me that her family is moving to Canada, because a law was passed about illegals in Utah. She is leaving soon, and can only take with her four shirts, two pairs of pants, and a pair of shoes. Situations like that are extremely difficult for me because I know this girl so well that it breaks my heart what she has to go through, but on the other hand, she is an illegal, and so she shouldn't be here, she needs to go back to where she is from. Kids have too much to deal with nowadays.

I find it interesting that the child is moving to Canada. Canada seems to be a lot more strict on illegals than the US. I know many people even in my ward who were sent back to the countries they came from and they were really good people. Maybe they have family in Canada? I think immigration is wonderful but things really need to be done about illegals and Utah has seemed way too lenient so it's good that they are doing something now.
To clarify I know Canada also has a problem with illegal immigration but from personal experience it seemed that they were more strict.
